As of 30 March 2012, Norwich City Council is offering a revised social housing allocations service called Norwich Home Options.
This new choice based lettings service was formed after the Greater Norwich Home Options scheme, in which we partnered Broadland and South Norfolk district councils, ended. The Greater Norwich scheme had governed how social housing in Norwich, Broadland and South Norfolk was allocated since 2007. In 2011 all partners decided to end the scheme to allow each local authority to develop an allocation service tailored to the needs of their local residents.
When the decision was made to end the partnership, Norwich City Council approved the creation of an interim choice based lettings service based on the previous sub-regional service to run from April 2012, until the launch of an improved housing allocations service in April 2013.
We held a six-week consultation in January and February 2012 to consider improvements to the previous service and allocations policy
which can be seen here. The outcome of this consultation was reported to Norwich City Council’s cabinet in a meeting on March 14 2012. At this meeting, cabinet approved the changes and the new interim policy. If you have any questions about this consultation, please call us on 0344 980 3333.
A more comprehensive review of our allocations service will take place during 2012/13, in consultation with residents and partners, ready for the launch of the city council's new allocations service for Norwich in April 2013.
