How can we help?
People can fall into debt for a wide range of reasons, including:
- reduced income
- loss or change of benefits
- sickness
- unemployment
- irregular income
- relationship break down
- changes to the household
- maternity leave
- retirement.
Our specialist money advice team will help you to take control of your finances and relieve the burden of debt. Your personal money adviser can meet you at your own home or at another convenient location to provide free and confidential advice about your financial situation, ranging from basic budgeting skills to intensive debt management.
Remember, you are not alone and we will not judge you. This is how we can help, whatever the size of your debt:
- offer advice on:
- your entitlement to benefits
- increasing your income
- basic bank accounts and access to other financial services, eg credit unions and low-costs loans
- self-help services
- help to identify your priority debts
- negotiate with creditors on your behalf
- assist with bankruptcy/insolvency queries and any other county court procedures (CCJs)
- negotiate with doorstep lenders.
