The Planning Public Access website allows you to search for details of planning applications, plans and supporting documentation that have been submitted to Norwich City Council's planning service. The system allows you to:
- Monitor the progress of an application and be notified by email of changes or updates.
- Submit comments about an application.
- See a list of applications submitted and decided each week.
- See whether an appeal has been lodged and any appeal decisions
- Save searches and be emailed about a new application.
- Check whether an appeal has been lodged and any appeal decisions.
- View details of historic applications.
- View property details by reference to a map.

Planning application documents submitted to the council are protected by the Copyright Acts (Section 47, 1988 Act). You may only use material which is downloaded and/or printed for consultation purposes, to compare current applications with previous schemes and to check whether developments have been completed in accordance with approved plans. Further copies must not be made without the prior permission of the copyright owner, the applicant, agent and architect.
For applications received from 28 November 2005, all relevant data should be available. For earlier planning applications and appeals from January 1988, there may only be some details available. For full details please contact planning services on 0344 980 3333 or

Whilst every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the data, the planning information contained within the site is at present incomplete and must not be used as a substitute for carrying out a formal 'Land charge search'. This includes details of historic applications and constraints on a particular site. Printed copies and uncontrolled electronic copies of any documents may not be at the latest revision.
Please note that any representations submitted using the 'Comments' facility will be made publicly available (including to the applicant and their agent) and that confidential representations cannot be taken into account by the council.
We reserve the right to remove offensive, abusive or racist comments made upon planning applications.
The Planning Public Access system is not available between 2am and 6am each day due to backup requirements.
Viewing documents at the planning reception, City Hall
Plans and documents associated with new planning applications can normally be viewed within five working days of an application being validated. If none are displayed, you may wish to try a few days later. Alternatively you can view the application and associated documents at the planning reception, City Hall, Norwich between 8.45am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
