Our commitment to equality and diversity

Norwich City Council's Equality policy explains our expectations of ourselves and our partners regarding equalities. It will be at the heart of all decision making and service planning at Norwich City Council.

We commit to continuously learning and improving our equality and diversity knowledge and practice:

  • as a community leader
  • as a provider of services
  • as an employer.
    Below is a report on how we pay due regard to the general equality duties on a range of protected characteristics, published in January 2012. This document also includes our equality objectives for the next four years, updated in March 2012. Both are legal requirements under the Equalities Act 2010

    We also intend to publish an equality action plan in spring 2012 as the final part of this document, in order to form the Equality Strategy 2012-15
     
    We had in place the Comprehensive diversity strategy and the race, gender and disability equality schemes, below. These have been replaced by the new Equality strategy above.
