Christmas Support Payment for wet-led pubs - CLOSED

Applications are now closed for the Christmas Support Payment – a one-off payment of £1,000 to cover the period of 2 December - 29 December – for pubs which usually predominantly serve beverages (wet-led pubs).

This funding, provided by government and administered by local councils, was for pubs where food sales usually make up less than 50 per cent of the pub’s income.

Who is eligible?

This one-off grant is for pubs that can be described as:

  • open to the general public
  • allowing free entry other than when occasional entertainment is provided
  • allowing drinking without requiring food to be consumed
  • permitting drinks to be purchased at a bar.

For these purposes, the definition of a pub excludes: restaurants, cafes, nightclubs, hotels, snack bars, guesthouses, boarding houses, sporting venues, music venues, festival sites, theatres, museums, exhibition halls, cinemas, concert halls and casinos.

You can find full details of the scheme on the government's website.

All payments to eligible businesses will be made no later than 28 March 2021.
