Explore Norwich's wild side

14/05/2012
Norwich City Council invites you to explore Mousehold Heath with the launch of its programme of guided walks this month.

Whether this is you favourite beauty spot and you'd love to learn more about it or you want the opportunity to discover the heath for the first time – why not come along?

The programme gets underway on Thursday 24 May from 11am to 3pm with our community wildlife watch walk. Join a local wildlife expert and council Mousehold Heath warden to look at the wide variety of flora and fauna that inhabits the site.

Also from this month, through to August, there will be opportunities to get up close to some of the diverse and beautiful moth species on our moth evenings.

Two butterfly walks, a chance to travel back in time and learn how the landscape has been sculpted with geologist Tim Holt-Wilson; and a fungi foray with Dr Tony Leech round off what promises to be a real insight into this city gem.

Councillor Brenda Arthur, leader of Norwich City Council said: “Norwich is exceptionally lucky to have a wealth of parks, open spaces and natural areas – perfect places to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. And the heath is just one of these. Why not take this opportunity to find out from our enthusiastic experts just what makes Mousehold Heath such a special place”.

Please see list below for what’s on and when.
