It's time for a street party!

19/04/2012

The jubilee weekend and four-day bank holiday will soon be here and what better opportunity to throw a street party with your neighbours and friends.

Norwich will be celebrating in style for the holiday period and you can take part in the annual Big Lunch or the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee by organising a party where you live.

And Norwich City Council has made it as easy as possible by producing a special information pack for applying for a road closure. The deadline for the application form is 12 noon on Wednesday 2 May.

This year sees the fourth annual Big Lunch, organised by the Eden Project, and as it falls on the same weekend as the Queen’s diamond anniversary, people are being invited to commemorate her 60-year reign by holding a Big Jubilee Lunch on Sunday 3 June.

People can also stage an event in their street or road on Monday 4 or Tuesday 5 June as part of the bank holiday celebrations.

A road closure costs £36 and application forms can be download here.

Alternatively you can email events@norwich.gov.uk or call 01603 212203 to request a printed copy. You will be advised if your application is suitable by Monday 7 May.
