Main council offices closed over Christmas

22/12/2011
Norwich City Council’s main offices will be closed from the end of the working day on Friday 23 December and will reopen on Tuesday 3 January.

The closure has been introduced as a way for the council to save money as well as a response to lower demands placed on the authority, as a whole, over the festive season.

Earlier in the year the council carried out a survey asking staff to give their views on whether its main offices should be closed between Christmas and New Year.

Of the 441 employees who responded, 78 per cent were in favour of the closure.

As a result, employees have had to use part of their holiday entitlement in order to cover the additional days off between Christmas and New Year.
