Norwich City Council sets council tax

22/02/2012
A freeze in council tax for 2012-13 was approved for Norwich residents at last tonight’s (21 February) city council budget meeting.

It means that for band D properties, Norwich City Council’s element of council tax has been set at £225.87. This represents about £4.34 per week for people living in band D properties.

The city council’s portion of council tax represents 15 per cent of the overall bill, Norfolk County Council’s share represents 73 per cent and Norfolk Police Authority 12 per cent.

Brenda Arthur, leader of the council, said: “We know a lot of people will continue to face tough times in the coming months, and the last thing we wanted them to have to worry about was an increase in their council tax so we approved a 0% increase for the next financial year.”
