Resurfacing of Colman and Mile End Roads

07/02/2012
Essential work to resurface part of the Norwich outer ring road is to begin on Monday 13 February as part of Norwich City Council’s maintenance programme.

The council, through its contractor May Gurney, will carry out the work between the junctions of Highland Rd and Colman Road, and Waldeck Road and Mile End Road.

It is anticipated this will take eight working days to complete, weather permitting.

Colman Road and Mile End Road will remain open to through traffic. The adjacent side roads of Highland Road, Muriel Road, Mornington Road and Waldeck Road will be temporarily closed to traffic at their junctions with the ring road. Traffic will be able to enter and leave Waldeck Road via Leopold Road during this time.

Unthank Road will also have to be temporarily closed north and south of its junction with Colman Road, and it is expected this will be on Friday 17 February for one day only. To minimise the disruption this is likely to cause, we plan this closure to take place between 7am and 3pm.

While other areas of the ring road will be accessible, these closures and traffic controls are likely to cause delays and so we would suggest drivers consider using alternative routes, where possible.

No parking within the working area will be available. Pedestrians will still be able to use the paths past the working area and vehicle access will be available up to either side of the closure points.

The work is expected to cost approximately £165,000.

The city council apologises for any inconvenience caused by this essential maintenance work.
