Norwich City Council provides a citywide CCTV (closed circuit television) service to:

  • help police the city centre effectively
  • reduce crime and fear of crime.
How does the system operate?

The CCTV system is made up of:

  • 66 city centre cameras
  • 13 Norfolk County Council urban traffic control cameras
  • 12 cameras in car parks.

The system is monitored 24 hours each day, 365 days a year, from a purpose-built control room.

There are also:

  • Direct picture and telephone links with Police HQ, Wymondham
  • Radio links with the Norwich retail store detectives system, SOS pubs and clubs and our own radio system.
