Housing

The Council has an important strategic role in the city's housing. We produce a strategy for improving choice, quality, affordability and accessibility in all types of housing and work in partnership with property owners and landlords.

We also provide housing services - including 18,000 homes for rent, sheltered housing for older people, renovation grants to home owners, a community alarm and services for the homeless.

We recognise the significant contribution which good housing can make to people's quality of life and we aim to ensure that local housing needs and aspirations are met.
