Boundary Committee announces draft proposals for Norfolk (07/07/08)

On 7 July 2008 the Boundary Committee announced its draft proposals for alternative unitary structures of local government in Norfolk and Suffolk.The Boundary Committee are recommending a Norfolk unitary authority comprising the existing county of Norfolk and the Lowestoft area of Suffolk. They are also seeking views on:

  • a Norwich, Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft unitary, and a Norfolk unitary comprising the rest of the county; and
  • a Norwich unitary authority on expanded boundaries and a Norfolk unitary comprising the rest of the county and the Lowestoft area of Suffolk.

These draft proposals will now be subject to consultation until 26 September 2008.
