The Norman Centre in Mile Cross offers a wide range of community, educational and recreational facilities to everybody, all at affordable prices. You can also access lots of help, information and support through our Community advice @ the Norman Centre.

Activities

The Norman Centre hosts a varied activity programme for people of all ages including mum and toddler groups, children's dance, junior martial arts, after school activities, art classes, Activekidz club for 9 to 12 year olds and a Nifty Fifties programme.

The gym

Our highly qualified and friendly staff can offer advice and even provide you with a personal fitness programme for your needs - whether you are a beginner or experienced gym user. The gym has a wide range of the latest equipment and we are the only gym in Norwich with Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI) accreditation, meaning that staff are specifically trained to advise disabled customers.


Sport

Bowls - The Norman Centre offers a competitive standard four rink bowls hall and is home to the resident bowls club. Newcomers are welcome whether beginners or experienced players, and there are specially adapted chairs to make bowls accessible to people with a disability. Coaching is available on request and competitions are run throughout the year.

You can also use the rinks on a more casual pay and pay basis with shoes and bowls available for hire.

Badminton, short tennis and table tennis: Courts and tables are available for hire, or you could join one of the groups at the centre. Check our timetable to find out more.


The Meeting Place Coffee Shop

Enjoy the cosy community feel of The Meeting Place Coffee Shop with a light snack or coffee and enjoy a chat. Social events are held throughout the year and all are welcome. Click here to see the menu.
The opening hours are:

Monday to Thursday  10.30am-2pm
Friday 10.30am-1pm
Saturday 10.15am-1.15pm


Meeting rooms

There are a number of rooms available for training, meetings and social groups, with space for six to 60 people. Refreshments, audiovisual equipment, flipcharts, overhead projectors and catering can be organised on request. There is a large free car park and fully accessible facilities for the disabled.


Go 4less discount card

Discounts are offered within the centre on certain activities to Go 4less card holders or Norwich City Council National Bus Pass holders. The scheme is available to people who live within the Norwich City Council boundary and are:

  • receiving benefits
  • students aged 16+ and in full time education
  • qualifying disabled people
  • dependants of any of the above
  • aged 60 years and over.

Real Health Action

Milestones Day Nursery
An Ofsted registered nursery which provides high quality care and education for up to 52 children from aged three months to five years. Call 01603 213294 for more information.

Mile Cross IT Centre

jobcentreplus
A jobseekers allowance signing service is offered at the Norman Centre by arrangement with the Norwich Jobcentre Plus. Contact 01603 248777 if you are already a customer, or if you are making a new claim visit www.direct.gov.uk

King's community church
The group meets at the Norman Centre every Sunday from 11am to 12.30pm. There is something for all ages. Call 01603 765795 or visit www.kings-norwich.com
