Countdown to Christmas

Five weeks of festive fun are set to land in the city centre as Norwich City Council reveals its first ever ‘Countdown to Christmas’ for 2021.

City shoppers and diners will be able to enjoy a selection box of entertainment every Sunday in the run up to the big day.

As well as a musical performance each week, look out for some of Santa’s helpers frolicking through the city streets.

Plan your trip to the city’s winter wonderland – all details subject to change. Please be aware that photos and video footage will be taken at these events. These will be used by the council for marketing and publicity in our publications, on our website and in social media or in any third party publication. Please contact us if you have any concerns or if you wish to be exempted from this activity.

Keep up to date...

These events are run by independent organisers, with some support from Norwich City Council.

Sunday 12 December

Disco Shed

12:30 to 3:30pm, Hay Hill

Join Disco Shed’s anarchic but family-friendly Christmas party. The Disco Shed takes the best elements of modern clubbing but disguises it amongst all the stuff you‘d find in your Dad’s old shed, to make a truly unique entertainment space and novel curiosity.

Midday to 4pm, London Street and surrounding area:

Christmas Waiters

Imagine your very own Morecambe and Wise Christmas show, live and direct. Our seasonally spirited waiters are feeling festive and come prepared with giant Christmas puddings, magic floating glasses, yuletide napkin origami…and that’s just for starters.

Variety Spectacular

A seasonal, theatrically comic, dynamic, variety show featuring spinning Christmas puddings, a festive soundtrack and the usual amazing variety stunts.

Sunday 19 December

‘The Time Machine Disco’ (Glass House)

From Midday, London Street

“Come prancers, come dancers...!” Grab your glad rags and join this century-hoppin' dance extravaganza for the street.

Midday to 4pm, London Street and surrounding area:

Elves and the Goodometer

Two elves and their 'Goodometer' are checking to find out who’s been naughty and who’s been nice over the past year.

National Elf Service

This pair of cheeky elves are here to cheer, with a walkabout bursting with music, magic and merriment.
