Join the event stewarding team

Job description

Event stewards are the friendly and welcoming face of our events, and also assist behind the scenes.

Our events can only happen with the hard work of the stewards who take on a variety of roles from crew, entertainment steward, parade steward and face painter. Please make it clear on your application your experience so we can best match you to the roles available.

We look for all our stewards to be:

  • confident when interacting with the public
  • organised and have a calm approach
  • proactive and vigilant on events
  • knowledgeable of the city
  • experienced in stewarding for events, or able to demonstrate transferable skills.

Training

If your application is successful you will be invited to a steward training session on Wednesday 12 June at 5:15pm until approximately 7pm. You will be paid for the session which is mandatory for all new stewards and all returning stewards to attend every two years.

Specific roles

If you would like to be considered for the roles below, make sure you specify this in the form.

Event crew
This is a physically demanding role. We look for stewards that have manual handling experience, are willing and able to lift heavy objects, and ideally have a valid UK driving licence (driving a van is part of this role).

Supervisors
We hire a small number of supervisors and co-ordinators to be responsible for specific areas and fellow stewards, so events-based experience is a requirement.

School's Out
We are looking for stewards who enjoy working with young people and have a flair for face painting.

Rate of pay

  • Stewards: £8.90per hour* for all events.
  • Supervisors: £9.32 - £10.27 per hour* depending upon responsibility.

*Statutory rates of pay will go up in April 2019. Holiday pay accrued will be added to these rates.

How to apply

Complete the online application form by Monday 8 April 2019. Please do not send us your CV.
