Tenancy Awareness Sessions

Tenancy Awareness Sessions are appointment only sessions for people who have been referred by an agency eg a hostel or supported lodging, and who are ready to take on a new tenancy.

The sessions are informal and discussion is encouraged throughout, but no one is put ‘on the spot’. Full use of the audio visual equipment is made (when in the Mancroft Room) and there are group exercises, for those willing to participate.

The sessions will be carried out by members of the budgeting and money advice team.

For other people who feel that they would benefit from information and advice, there are leaflets available on this website, or by telephoning 0344 980 3333.

The sessions cover:

  • maintaining a tenancy
  • housing and council tax benefit
  • maximising income
  • the importance of having and balancing a household budget
  • priority payments
  • the costs of credit.

At the end of each session, all attendees are issued with a certificate of attendance and an information pack.

Feedback is invited as this helps us to improve the sessions on a regular basis.

If a person does not attend a session they have been referred to, they are not automatically listed for the next available date. A new referral will need to be made by the supporting agency.
