Closed consultation: Anglia Square and surrounding area draft Policy Guidance Note

The regeneration of Anglia Square and surrounding vacant land is the most significant development opportunity in the northern city centre area, and one of the city council’s most important regeneration priorities. Its comprehensive redevelopment has the potential to radically transform both the site and the wider area.

The Anglia Square site was purchased by Columbia Threadneedle in 2014 and the new owner is currently working with its development partner, Weston Homes, to develop proposals for its comprehensive development. They have now produced a summary of their emerging proposals for consideration.

The council has produced a draft Policy Guidance Note (PGN) in response to these emerging proposals, which sets out the relevant planning policy and broad principles for development of the site and surrounding area. Once finalised and adopted the PGN will be a material consideration in the determination of any subsequent planning application for the site.

The draft PGN is being consulted upon from  9am Monday 21 November 2016 to 5pm Monday 9 January 2017. Comments are invited on the specific consultation questions set out in the document and on its contents generally.

Emerging proposals

The developer is also carrying out its own consultation on its emerging proposals to gain views on the principles of their development and to inform any subsequent planning applications.
