Digital support success stories - Paul

Managing benefits

Paul found out about the digital support available at a visit to Norwich Job Centre. He needed to update his CV and to learn how to use digital technologies in his search for work. His brother had introduced him to computers but he felt he was very slow at first. He now knows what he's doing and can “just get on with it”.

Paul said the support from the volunteers was “absolutely brilliant”.

Paul has learned how to update his CV and use job search sites, how to use email and how to use Facebook. He used his new CV and new skills in his job search and now has two jobs. He was also able to apply for Universal Credit online once he started work.

He now wants to change one of his jobs, and is continuing to look for jobs online every day; having email is very helpful with this because it makes it easy for employers to contact him. He uses computers at the library and has now got himself a laptop in addition to his phone.

Since receiving the support, Paul is getting on very well using the internet and doesn’t feel he needs any additional support at the moment.
