Digital support success stories - Don

Borrowing IT equipment

Don came into the Voluntary Norfolk drop in to borrow an iPad and MiFi unit through the Digital Stuff Hub loaning scheme.

The reason for this was that Don needed to stay in contact with people as he did not have any WiFi at home. By borrowing this equipment allowed him to undertake job searches, email, WhatsApp and Facebook.

As part of the job searching Don was required to download and study materials which helped him gain a level 2 Award for Working as a CCTV operator. This qualification now allows Don to apply for the relevant operator’s licence. This will hopefully lead to employment working as a CCTV operator.

Additionally, due to a back problem, it is difficult for Don to walk to the library to access the computers there on a regular basis, so having the iPad and MiFi allowed Don to use this at home, making the internet available to him at any time of the day or night.
