Crowdfund Norwich has been set up to support community groups, social enterprises and charities across the city.
Crowdfunding had become an increasingly popular means of raising money in recent times, allowing people to turn their project ideas into reality by getting pledges from supporters.
Any local Crowdfunder projects will feature on the platform www.crowdfunder.co.uk/funds/crowdfund-norwich, so people looking to get support for a local cause, or those looking to support a local project can find them with ease.
We have set aside an initial sum of £50,000 of extra funding for community projects on Crowdfund Norwich, money which comes from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) – a pot of money generated by planning charges made to developers as a way to support the growth their developments will bring to an area).
We think this is an excellent way of giving the local community more ownership of decisions made on how CIL money should be spent and generate more funds available to finance the community’s own projects.
You could get up to £5,000 or 50 per cent of your funding target if you meet the eligibility criteria.
See the guidance notes for details of who is eligible to apply for this extra funding.
To be part of the first wave of projects raising money on this new platform or simply to find out more, contact the council’s team of crowdfunding coaches by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org for support and guidance.
