I started working in the customer contact team for Norwich City Council in 2008 after finishing university. I had ambitions to progress within the organisation and after moving into a variety of different roles, I now work in the transformation team as a senior officer with line management responsibilities. Read more about Holly


Ali Calvert

Ali Calvert – HR officer

I joined the council in 2015 as an HR assistant, and following a secondment to an HR officer role in 2017 the opportunity arose to gain my next qualification whilst undertaking an apprenticeship in HR management. This was ideal for me as it gave me the chance to not only gain the qualification but also undertake a programme of learning on the job, which worked for my style of learning as well as my work-life balance. Catherine Markwell – customer contact team leader

I started at the council as an adviser within the customer contact team, a position which helps customers with a wide range of service requests and enquiries such as environmental health, waste and recycling, housing and highways. Alana Hutchinson – apprentice customer contact adviser

During my final year at school, I struggled to decide what my future career path would be and it seemed as though everyone had already figured theirs out! I knew I didn’t want to go to university so I decided to look into apprenticeships in my area. Read more about Alana


Sam Walker – career grade planner

I started at the council in 2015 as a planning assistant following a career change from bespoke furniture design and architectural technology. The culture of the council and the planning team itself were welcoming and supportive and have continued to help me settle into my new career and support my learning and development. Sol Riches – apprentice customer contact adviser

Having completed my A-Levels in maths, further maths and physics at Thorpe St Andrew I joined the council working within the customer contact team and studying for an NVQ Level 2 in customer services.
