One of our corporate priorities is to work with partners to increase sustainable transport and improve air quality.
As part of this, Norwich City Council works in partnership with Norfolk County Council, which is responsible for our highways. Transport for Norwich’s approach is to encourage people to travel in more sustainable ways such as public transport, cycling and walking to reduce the impact of transport on the city. The overarching Transport for Norwich Strategy.is on Norfolk County Council's website.
One of the outputs of the collaboration, recently published, is a Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) for the Greater Norwich area. The plan shows how we intend to develop the cycle and walking network in the Norwich area and identifies and prioritises improvement schemes which can be delivered over the short, medium and long term. It enables more people to consider cycling and walking as safe, direct and attractive forms of transport. You can download the map illustrating the current cycle network.
