Important information about your water charge rebate

Dear Tenant

We're writing to let you know about a rebate you will be receiving soon – this is related to water charges you have been paying alongside your rent.

Why you’re getting a rebate
In agreement with Anglian Water, we have been collecting water and sewerage services charges from you, on behalf of the company. We have been doing this for a number of years for a small admin fee.

Following a legal ruling in 2020, our current arrangements will be changing. We will be in touch with you again as soon as possible to let you know more about how you will need to pay your water bills in the future.

In the meantime, because of the legal changes, you are due a rebate.

It’s important that you are aware the city council has not overcharged you for your water and sewerage services. The rebate you will receive will be coming from the surplus admin fees which were part of the commission charges we agreed with Anglian Water.

What will happen next
We are working through the exact amount of rebate that you are entitled to. In some cases this can be as little as a few pence and up to about £350, depending on your individual circumstances.

We will be back in touch with you as soon as possible to let you know how much you will be receiving, which will include interest. Once this has been worked out, the money will be paid directly into your rent account. The amount you will receive will reflect water charges collected between 2001 and 2024-5.

Do I need to do anything now?
No, there is nothing for you to do. Please bear with us. We will be in touch with you again soon to let you know how much your rebate is and to provide more information about how we worked out your rebate amount.
