Not all HMOs need to be licensed so check below and for the definition of an HMO.

Will I require a licence if I rent out, own or manage an HMO?

Please read the below  information before proceeding with your application for a HMO licence:

You will need to have the following information available when you apply for a HMO licence:

  • The addresses of any other licensed HMOs the proposed licence holder has
  • Full details of the property to be licensed including:
    • Address
    • Fire precautions
    • The soft furnishings
    • The number of, and the types of each room in the HMO
    • The number of current occupants
    • Full details of the amenities including detailed knowledge of the kitchen(s) and bathroom(s)
  • The proposed licence and proposed manager details
  • The mortgage companies details (if a mortgage is on the property)
  • any additional owners or any other interested parties details
  • A debit or credit card to pay for the application

If you have more than 10 bedrooms / bedsits  please fill in as much of the form as you can and we will be in contact once the application has been received to collect the rest of the property details.

Once you have started, you must continue to the end and submit the form. Please note that you only have 30 minutes to fill out each page.
