The council publishes an annual statement of accounts at the end of the financial year. This shows income and expenditure and the financial position of the council for that period. It includes all the financial statements and disclosure notes required by law which are reviewed by our external auditors.
Draft statement of accounts 2019-20
The Accounts and Audit (Coronavirus)(Amendment) Regulations 2020 has extended the statutory audit deadlines for 2019-20. The requirement for the public inspection period to include the first 10 working days of June has been removed.
Instead local authorities must commence the public inspection period on or before the first working day of September 2020. This means the draft accounts must be approved by 31 August 2020 at the latest. However they may be approved earlier.
The council published it’s draft statement of accounts on 7 July 2020.
The public inspection period will run from 13 July until 21 August 2020.
During this period, any queries on the accounts can be sent by email to email@example.com
Subject to the outcome of the public inspection and the external auditor’s report, the council’s audit committee on 24 November 2020 will give its approval and the final audited accounts will be published by 30 November 2020.
