Business merit - Healthier Options Norfolk (HONOR)

We promote healthy eating by awarding caterers who provide healthier options on their menus with the HONOR award.

The award is offered by Norwich City Council, Breckland Council, South Norfolk Council and Great Yarmouth Borough Council, working with Norfolk County Council Public Health and Trading Standards.

How to apply

You will need to complete the self-assessment form below. Any catering business registered in Norfolk can apply as long as it has a hygiene rating of three or better.

Caterers can take many steps to provide healthier food choices for their customers by making healthier choices available, eg offering a choice of boiled or mashed potatoes as alternatives to chips; extra vegetables in servings; fruit based desserts and wholemeal bread choices with sandwiches.

Food can also be prepared in healthier ways by reducing salt, trimming fat from meat before cooking, substituting unsaturated fats for saturated ones, and allowing customers to add as much or as little in terms of sauces, dressings and fat spreads.
