Options for the future of the current sculptures in Hay Hill

Our consultation demonstrated that the modern sculptures (Brain, eye etc.) will need to be relocated if we are to meet our aims for the transformation of Hay Hill. It’s really important that the sculptures are moved to a location which is relevant and complimentary, so their meaning and significance is redeemed.

We are assessing the suggestions of relocation sites received through the public consultation against criteria identified to be of importance by the city council, artists and through liaison with partners and stakeholders.

These criteria include considerations such as:

  • How accessible the location is
  • Where the site is e.g. is it within the Norwich City Council boundary
  • Relevance to Thomas Browne.

Planning permission was granted in March to enable the sculptures to be carefully removed from Hay Hill, cleaned, and placed into storage until a relocation site is ready to receive them.
