Britain's Best Market – Vote for Norwich Market

Published on Monday, 6th November 2017

Voting is now open for Britain’s Favourite Market competition and Norwich City Council is encouraging residents and visitors to vote for Norwich Market.

Norwich Market is unique in Britain. It dates back more than 900 years, boasts almost 190 stalls and is one of the largest Monday-to-Saturday open market in the country.

It contains a fantastic mix of products and services including knitting and embroidery, a vintage clothing collective, fruit and vegetables, beautifully fresh fish, dainty cupcakes, flowers, jewellery and bags - and this list only scratches the surface of its treasure trove of stalls.

2017 has been really special for Norwich Market, with stall numbers soaring and a burgeoning street food scene. The market recently won Best Independent Food and Drink category at the EDP Norfolk Food and Drink Awards and was named one of the top ten British markets by Culture Trip.

Today, Norwich Market has a more diverse range of eating options than ever before offering alongside its long-standing fish and chips, bacon rolls and hot dogs, also South East Asian, Spanish, Italian, French, Indian and Chilean street food along with fresh juices, falafels, lasagne and deli sandwiches.

Pop up stalls are another new addition to the market, giving budding businesses a chance to try trading on a temporary basis.

Kristina Fox, market manager for Norwich City Council said:

"Nestled in the heart of the city, Norwich Market is a bustling, vibrant place, ever changing and modern, yet retaining its sense of history with many stalls passed down through generations.

From vintage fashion to DIY, Chilean street food to hot dogs - there is something for everyone. It would be fantastic if Norwich Market was crowned 'Britain's Favourite' - I urge visitors and residents alike to vote today."
