Emergency Alert test – Sunday 23 April, 3pm

Published on Wednesday, 19th April 2023

This government’s alert service designed to warn of danger to life will be tested this Sunday, which means your mobile phone or tablet may make a loud siren-like sound and vibrate for 10 seconds.

The Emergency Alert Service has been introduced to inform people about severe threats, such as flooding and wildfires, in particular areas.

What the test alert on Sunday 23 April will say:

"This is a test of Emergency Alerts, a new UK government service that will warn you if there’s a life-threatening emergency nearby.

In a real emergency, follow the instructions in the alert to keep yourself and others safe.
Visit gov.uk/alerts for more information.
This is a test. You do not need to take any action."
