Decorating graves during the festive season

Christmas can be a deeply personal time to remember loved ones. If you're planning to decorate a grave, please take a moment to read our guidance on what’s allowed to help keep our cemeteries safe, respectful and environmentally friendly.

What you can place

We encourage decorations made from natural materials, such as:

  • wooden ornaments
  • natural wreaths
  • real flowers and plants
  • small real Christmas trees (potted and no taller than 2ft)

In our baby sections, we will provide small Christmas trees with eco-friendly wooden decorations available for visitors to leave messages.

What to avoid

To protect the environment and ensure safe maintenance, the following items are not permitted:

  • tinsel and glitter
  • lights and lanterns
  • candles
  • artificial trees
  • plastic flowers or wreaths
  • confetti and fake snow
  • any glass or plastic items

Please note

  • All decorations must be placed within the grave space.
  • Restricted items will be removed throughout the festive period.

Thank you for helping us keep our cemeteries safe, respectful, and environmentally conscious during this special time of year.
