Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to use our website and access our services with ease. Whether you need to change how the site looks, get information in another language or format, or build your digital skills, we’re here to help.

Making our website easier to use

At Norwich City Council, we want everyone to be able to use our website easily. That’s why we’ve added the Recite Me accessibility toolbar.

This toolbar helps people who may find it hard to read or understand website content. It also supports people who speak different languages.

What the toolbar can do

The toolbar lets you:

  • Hear text read aloud - great for people with visual impairments or reading difficulties.
  • Change how the page looks - you can adjust text size, font, and colours to suit your needs.
  • Translate the page - choose from over 100 languages to read the content in your preferred language.
  • Use reading tools - includes a ruler, screen mask, and dictionary to help you focus and understand better.
  • Zoom in - magnify parts of the page to make them easier to see.

How to use it

  1. Click the “Read and translate” button - you’ll find it at the top of our website. This opens the Recite Me toolbar.
  2. Pick the tools you need - use the icons to:
    • Listen to text
    • Change colours and fonts
    • Translate the page
    • Use reading aids
  3. Make it work for you - adjust the settings to suit your needs. You can reset or close the toolbar at any time.
