Norwich Market has made it into the finals of the Great British Market Awards, thanks to overwhelming support.
Online voting closed on November 30 and revealed that Norwich Market had made it into the top six most popular markets in the country for 2018.
The six finalists will now go through to the next stage of the competition, which includes a visit from a judging panel made up from experts from across the market industry. The market will also receive a mystery shopping visit.
Councillor Matthew Packer, Norwich City Council's cabinet member with responsibility for Norwich Market, said: “Being finalists in a national competition is the icing on the cake for what has been a brilliant year for Norwich Market.
"The market is such an asset to our city, providing not only a unique shopping experience, but also a space for independent businesses to thrive and bloom, and of course a huge draw for visitors.”
Kristina Fox, market manager for Norwich City Council, said: "We are so delighted to have made it into the final of Britain's Favourite Market competition. Thanks so much to everyone who voted for us and supported Norwich Market through the years."
The overall winner of Britain’s Favourite Market competition will be announced on Thursday 25 January 2018 at the NABMA’s Annual Conference in Birmingham.
