Weekly update on the city’s response to COVID-19

Published on Friday, 24th April 2020

We want to make sure residents and businesses in Norwich are kept well informed about the impact of coronavirus on essential services.

We also want everyone to be aware of the big steps we’re taking, every single day, to ensure we offer all the support we possibly can so that we can continue to deliver critical services in these most challenging of times.

An overview of this week’s key updates

Using our parks and open spaces

While it’s really difficult for us all, not being able to use our parks’ facilities and equipment to the full right now, the city’s parks can still be a good place to get some fresh air while exercising. There are some things to remember when there. Visit www.norwich.gov.uk/parks for details.

Help/information for businesses

Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme now open, PPE callout and support for businesses paying business rates.

Community response

Our network of over 500 volunteers continues to support the Norwich Community Response Hub.

Temporary accommodation and support for rough sleepers

Since 27 March, 60 individuals have been offered accommodation, following government instructions to all local authorities.

Information for council tenants and leaseholders

Following guidance around social distancing, we are limiting all face-to-face contact with residents, however essential maintenance and support is still being provided.
