New civic leaders to be sworn in at Norwich City Council

Published on Friday, 21st May 2021

The new Lord Mayor and Sheriff of Norwich will take on their new civic roles after being ceremonially sworn on Monday.

Due to circumstances caused by the Covid pandemic, the outgoing incumbents Councillor Vaughan Thomas (Lord Mayor) and Dr Marian Prinsley (Sheriff) have served in their respective roles for two years, a departure from the usual yearly engagement.

After serving their extended term with distinction, they will now be moving on from the roles and the council is hugely grateful for their time and dedication.

Norwich city councillor Kevin Maguire will be the Lord Mayor for the 2021-22 civic year and Caroline Jarrold is Sheriff.

Both will don their robes and chains of office for the first time at a covid-secure mayor-making ceremony at St Andrews Hall.
