Big Community Switch is back to help residents save on energy bills

Published on Friday, 26th May 2023

Households in Norwich are being encouraged to register for Big Community Switch to save money on their energy bills.

Big Community Switch uses the bargaining power of a large group to secure cheaper deals. All you need to do is register by 21 June when an auction will be held with energy suppliers.

After the auction is held, anyone who registered for a no-obligation quote will receive an offer from the cheapest supplier. There is no requirement to accept your personal offer, and it is always a good idea to check what else is available.

All the energy companies that take part in the auction offer 100% renewable tariffs and are pre-vetted before being invited to take part in Big Community Switch.

Councillor Emma Hampton, cabinet member for climate change at Norwich City Council, said:

“Many households have struggled with rising energy costs over the last two years and that's why Norwich City Council is committed to seeking better deals for our residents through Big Community Switch.

“Too many people in Norwich are unable to heat their homes affordably and sustainably. Helping households move to a cheaper, greener energy supply is just one of the ways we’re working to reduce fuel poverty and cut carbon emissions.

“I’d encourage everyone to register today for a no-obligation quote to see what you could save.”
