Plans to introduce a ‘meanwhile shopping space’ at Anglia Square have been submitted to Norwich City Council as part of the authority’s wider drive to redevelop the site.

The planning application for St Saviours Yard from Meanwhile Creative feature over 80 shipping containers which aims to provide flexible, affordable and practical spaces, tailored to the needs of small businesses, freelancers, traders and creatives.

Councillor Carli Harper, cabinet member for major projects said: “We hope St Saviours Yard will become a go to shopping destination and business hub, while we crack on and redevelop Anglia Square. Our ambition is for St Saviours Yard to become a thriving, eclectic shopping and business attraction rivalling similar sites in Shoreditch, Manchester or Bristol.”

The council expects former traders from Anglia Square and new businesses to set up shop at the site in St Magdalen Street carpark.
