Money help
If you are a refugee or have special permission to stay in the UK, you can apply for financial help from the government if eligible. You must have recourse to public funds.
Bank account
- you can open a bank account in the UK
- some banks let you open one even if you don’t have a home address
- if you need help, ask your housing worker or a support group
Universal Credit
To apply, go to the Jobcentre.
Advice about benefits
You can get advice from Norfolk Citizens Advice or the Jobcentre. Several refugee support organisations also offer welfare advice – please visit getting support
Refugee integration loan
This can help with:
- paying rent
- buying things for your home
- school or learning
- living costs
