Using this website
This accessibility statement applies to the Resident Portal website (Your bins) at bnr-wrp.whitespacews.com/#!
This website is provided by Norwich City Council. It is built and maintained by a third party supplier on our behalf.
We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts;
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen;
- navigate the website using just a keyboard;
- navigate the website using speech recognition software; and
- listen to the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver).
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand. AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
We aim to meet the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at AA level. We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible, as follows:
- When using a screen reader with the Chrome browser, the keyboard navigation of drop-down list selectors is impaired by the narration tool.
- The purpose of the missed bin comment and tick box fields are not declared to screen readers with Chrome browser.

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
When using a screen reader with Chrome browser:
- The keyboard navigation of drop-down lists is impaired. This interferes with selecting items using arrow keys and violates keyboard accessibility. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criteria 2.1.1 Keyboard.
- Screen readers may not be able to report the number of list items. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criteria 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value.
- Missed bin comment and tick box fields do not declare their purpose to screen readers. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criteria 1.3.5 Identify input purpose.
The known issues above will be addressed in the next release of this portal and planned for November 2025.

The test was carried out by by Whitespace Work Software Ltd and included all pages and all content using a variety of test tools including SiteImprove and Silktide.
