How to submit your evidence
Evidence is required to process your claim for Housing Benefit. Find out what you need to send us so we can progress your claim.
What you need to send us
- completed claim form – make sure every question is answered
- proof of identity – two documents for you (and your partner, if you have one)
- National Insurance number – for you (and your partner)
- proof of income – for you (and your partner)
- income details for others living with you – this includes children, relatives, or friends
- proof of savings – if you and/or your partner have over £5,500 in savings or investments, or £9,500 if you are pension age
- proof of rent – if you rent from a private landlord or housing association.
If you're applying for Housing Benefit, we also need a recent bank statement in your name so we can pay you directly.
