Interested in running a community building?

This quick guide explains what we’re looking for and how to make your expression of interest stand out. It’ll help you understand the process, what to include, and whether your organisation is eligible - saving you time and giving your application the best chance of success.

Here's how to apply

When an asset transfer opportunity becomes available we will advertise it on these pages with an expression of interest form to complete if you’d like to be considered.

At this early stage, you don’t need to submit a full business plan. If your application moves forward, we’ll ask for more detailed information later.

Before you apply, please check our Community Asset Transfer Policy to make sure your organisation is eligible.

What to include in your application

We will want you to tell us about your plans and vision for the building. You don’t need to answer every question, but here are some things we’ll be looking at:

  • What services or activities will you offer in the building?
  • Why is this building a good fit for your plans? (think about location, accessibility, costs, etc.)
  • Do you have experience running services or managing buildings?
  • what benefits will your project bring to the community? Can you show there’s a need?
  • Are you offering something the local community wants or needs?
  • Do you have support from local residents, businesses, or other organisations?
  • Are you working with any partners?
  • How will you fund your activities and cover running costs?
