Our council offices and phone lines will close at 4pm on Wednesday 24 December and reopen at 9am on Monday 5 January 2026.

New Claims and Updates: We usually handle new applications and updates to your Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support within 14 days- once we have all the relevant information we need from you.
Simple updates to your Council Tax or Business Rates accounts are normally completed within 14 days. More complex enquiries or where we need more information, it might take longer.
We collect money owed for Council Tax, Business Rates, Business Improvement District levy and Housing Benefit overpayments according to the law.
We aim to collect debts and in a way that takes your personal situation into account.
At certain times of the year our workload increases more than usual, so it might take us a bit longer to respond.
