Home contents insurance for tenants

Norwich City Council does not insure the contents of your home.

This means that if your belongings are damaged, lost or destroyed, for example by fire, flooding or theft, and you don’t have insurance, you will have to pay to replace everything yourself if you do not have insurance.

We strongly recommend that you take out home contents insurance.

About the insurance scheme

You can choose to arrange your own insurance or you can use our low‑cost scheme provided by Aviva.

The cost of cover starts from:

  • 40p per week for standard cover
  • 80p per week for full accidental damage.

You can also pay extra to cover:

  • personal belongings away from the home
  • wheelchairs or mobility scooters
  • hearing aids

All prices include Insurance Premium Tax. Terms and conditions apply.

You can download the insurance information document to read the important information about the cover.
