Some households may be eligible for one free resident permit and one free visitor permit to park in a designated housing car park.
If you qualify, you can apply online for:
- resident Permit – lets you park your own vehicle in a housing car park
- visitor Permit – lets your visitor park in the same car park

Need an extra visitor permit?
You can request an additional visitor permit only if you don’t already have a resident permit. You’ll need to show proof of your address.
You must also be:
- over 60, or
- have a disability

Important terms
- display your permit clearly on the left side of your windscreen.
- A permit does not guarantee a parking space.
- Permits cannot be used on large vehicles (over 3.5 tonnes or longer than 6 metres).
- Your vehicle must be taxed and roadworthy – untaxed or SORN vehicles will be fined.
- Permits are only valid for the car park they’re issued for – check the code on your permit and signs in the car park.
- Misuse of permits may lead to action by the council.
