Discretionary Housing Payments

Discretionary Housing Payment fund

The money we have in the Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP) fund is strictly limited. The amount we have in the fund has come from a one-off payment from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

We received £268,476 from the DWP

We have so far made 284 payments

We currently have £49,502.93

How to apply for a DHP

DHPs can help people in a temporary situation where they need extra help with their housing costs.

To be eligible for a DHP you must be claiming Housing Benefit or Universal Credit and we must be satisfied that you are in need of extra financial help.

  • Payments are temporary and can be made over a short period or as a one-off payment. They can help with shortfalls in rent payment when housing benefit doesn’t cover the full amount.
  • Removal costs, deposit and rent in advance where you have to move address and have no other means of meeting these costs.

Apply online

Alternatively, a pdf version of the DHP form is available to download.
