Whether you're just starting out, or looking to develop new skills, our apprenticeships offer hands-on experience, professional support, and a pathway to long-term success.

Why choose an apprenticeship?

  • Earn a salary while gaining qualifications - apprenticeships combine paid work with nationally recognised training, no student debt, just real-world experience.
  • Learn from experienced professionals - you'll be mentored by skilled colleagues and supported every step of the way.
  • Boost your employability - apprenticeships are highly valued by employers and often lead to permanent roles.
  • Flexible learning tailored to your role - training is designed to fit around your job, making it practical and relevant.
  • Access to career progression - many apprentices go on to higher-level qualifications or leadership roles.

What to expect during your apprenticeship

  • 20% off-the-job learning - as part of your apprenticeship, you'll spend at least 20% of your working hours on structured learning activities. This could include attending workshops, completing online modules, shadowing colleagues, or working on projects that develop your skills.
  • Regular reviews and support - you'll have scheduled progress reviews with your training provider and line manager to ensure you're on track and supported throughout your journey.
  • A clear path to completion - each apprenticeship ends with an End Point Assessment (EPA), where you'll demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and behaviours you've gained.
  • Networking – be part of a local government apprenticeship network group and regular tea and chats with apprentices within NCC.
