Find a role
Browse our vacancies and click on the job title to view the full advert. When you're ready to apply, simply click the ‘Apply for this job’ button at the bottom of the page.
Complete your application
- You can save your progress and return later - no need to complete everything in one go.
- To continue an application, log back into the portal.
- All sections of the application form must be completed before submission.
Important - to ensure fairness and anonymity, all applications must be submitted online via our portal. For some roles, you may upload a CV at the end of the form - please ensure it contains no personal details.

Supporting statement
This is the most important part of your application. Use it to clearly demonstrate how your skills, knowledge, and experience match the person specification listed in the job profile.
Focus on:
- the situation – what was happening?
- your actions – what did you do?
- the outcome – what was the result?
We value transferable skills, so even if you don’t have direct experience, use examples from other areas of your life that show your suitability. Qualities like teamwork, initiative, and flexibility are often just as important as formal qualifications.
Accessibility and support
- If you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010 and meet the essential criteria, you’ll be guaranteed an interview.
- Let us know early if you need any adjustments for the interview or the role itself - we’re here to support you.
- If you’ve served in the Armed Forces within the last 3 years and meet the essential criteria, you’ll also be invited to interview as part of our commitment to the Norfolk Armed Forces Covenant.
What happens next
- Once submitted, you’ll receive an automated confirmation email.
- Applications are anonymised and shortlisted based on how well you meet the criteria.
- If shortlisted, you’ll be contacted to arrange an interview - this may include selecting a time via the portal.
- All applicants will be notified of the outcome after shortlisting.
Interview process
If invited to interview:
- Prepare to discuss how your experience and skills align with the role.
- You’ll be assessed against the essential criteria and our PACE values which are:
- Pride (we will take pride in what we do and demonstrate integrity in how we do things) - an example would be showing that you are positive about the council and the services it delivers, handling customer complaints or issues in a positive manner.
- Accountability (we will take responsibility, do what we say we will and see things through) – an example would be demonstrating you are able to make balanced and considered decisions having full knowledge of all facts and potential implications.
- Collaborative (we will work with others and help people to succeed) – an example might be demonstrating that you help and look after new people in a team and are helpful to colleagues when they’re busy so that work and deadlines are met.
- Excellence (we will strive to do things well and look for ways to improve and learn) – an example to evidence this would be showing that you are happy to take on board changes and new ways of working learning from feedback admitting when you get things wrong.
