Vary a designated premises supervisor (DPS)

If your premises licence allows the sale of alcohol, you must name a Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) on the licence. The DPS is the person responsible for the day‑to‑day running of the premises when alcohol is being sold.

Apply to change your DPS

Only the premises licence holder can apply to change the DPS.

The person you nominate must:

  • hold a personal licence, and
  • complete the DPS consent form included in the application.

Important information about employing staff

It is an offence under the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006 to employ an adult if you know, or have reasonable cause to believe, that they are disqualified from working because of their immigration status.

Fee

The fee to change (vary) the DPS is £23.

You must pay this online by debit or credit card when you submit your application.

Processing time

Your application will be shared with Norfolk Constabulary for consultation.

  • The consultation period lasts 14 days from the date we receive a valid application.
  • If no objections are received, the change will be approved automatically.
  • If an objection is made, a hearing will be arranged to decide the outcome.
