Magdalen Street is set to re-open on Monday, 9 March, after a phase of demolition works at Anglia Square were completed faster than scheduled.
Councillor Carli Harper, cabinet member for finance and major projects, welcomed the news saying:
“This is great news and I would like to thank residents and traders for their patience during the closure of Magdalen Street and also our contractors DSM Demolition who really have put a shift in to get this stage of demolition completed earlier than scheduled.
“It shows we’re on track on the redevelopment of Anglia Square and our commitment to deliver 1,100 new homes, retail, leisure and community spaces for the people of Norwich.”
Although Magdalen Street will re-open next week, a short section of Edward Street will remain closed due to on-going demolition works and associated temporary diversions will be in place.
Residents are advised to keep an eye on bus service timetables.
Further updates will be announced in due course.
