Annual canvass 2025

Every year, Norwich City Council conducts an Annual Canvass to ensure the Electoral Register is accurate and up to date. This helps maintain your right to vote and can even affect your ability to get credit.

Everything you need to know

Key dates for 2025

  • Canvass emails sent: from 23 July
  • Paper forms delivered: from 15 August
  • Door-to-door visits (if needed): begin 26 September

How to respond

If you receive an email

  • click the secure link in the email
  • enter your security codes
  • review and update your household details
  • submit the form

Emails will come from: electoral.services.norwich.city.council@notifications.service.gov.uk

If you receive a letter

  • follow the instructions in the letter
  • if a response is required, choose one of these options:
    • Online: visit the Household Response website using your security codes
    • By post: amend and return the form to:
      Electoral Services, Norwich City Council, City Hall, Norwich, NR2 1NH

Important reminders

  • being registered for Council Tax does not automatically place you on the Register of Electors
    you must register separately to vote.
  • moved recently?
    update your details to ensure everyone eligible at your new address is registered.
  • not registered?
    You may be refused credit and lose your right to vote.

Who should be registered?

You must be on the register if you are:

  • aged 16 or over (you can vote from age 18)
  • a British, Irish, EU, or qualifying Commonwealth citizen
  • living in Norwich
